{This event has been Postponed to April 22-23, 2018}
Our fall gathering will take place at Olmsted Adult Retreat Center Ludlow, Pennsylvania, beginning with supper, Sunday night at 6pm on October 29th, and concluding just after lunch on Monday, October 30th 2017. Our group serves as a support group for those in ministry or worship leadership positions, particularly with congregations going through transition. Agenda includes a relaxed time of fellowship and evening worship on Sunday night. Monday morning will feature a study and discussion about the current state of “marriage” and the roles of the church and the state. Following lunch the group will briefly meet to discuss future events. Spouses are also invited. Olmsted provides a relaxed get-away and adjacent night are usually available for you to extend your retreat.

The following song from A Prairie Home Companion, February 13, 2016, has a fun take on Marriage Statistics. Go to the show page at : http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/listen/?date=2016/02/13&identifier=ap... and click "Statistics" from the right hand column.

Note that Olmsted has begun a major construction project which effects the main entry and upper level parking area. Signage will direct you to park in the lower lot and use the elevator to access the main lobby. Other than parking and entry issues, the construction shouldn't bother our retreat. By the time of our spring retreat we should be able to enjoy a more convenient and inviting entry area.

You may want to go to the web page on this project to see details and learn more: http://www.olmstedmanor.org/the-olmsted-campaign.html

Spring 2017 Event

Start Date:
Sun, 05/21/2017 - 5:30pm to Mon, 05/22/2017 - 1:30pm

The next meeting/retreat of the Lake Erie Ministry Support group will be May 21-22, 2017 at Olmsted Manor. Bill Kemp will be doing the Monday morning educational presentation from his latest book, "Finding Shalom: Exiting Life’s Roundabouts, Walking New Paths."  The event begins on Sunday evening with dinner at Olmsted -- always great cooking! Sunday evening program will be sharing time followed by worship. Monday's program:

Finding Shalom: Transitional Tools for Everyday Spirituality  by Bill Kemp

Intentional interim ministers have a tool box they use to bring Shalom to traumatized and conflicted congregations. That same tool box can helpful for individuals seeking Shalom. To find inner peace we must learn from our past, live compassionately in the present, and plan without anxiety for our future. This is more than simply a balancing act. One must develop a healthy decision making process. One must understand the roles and relationships that provide structure for our individual lives. One must find new ways to bridge conflicts and offer forgiveness. If our lay people can apply these lessons to their personal lives, they will be more effective as church leaders and less anxious throughout their congregation’s transition.

Retreat ends shortly after lunch with a planning session for future events. The three meals, overnight lodging, and the program will have a registration cost of around $75. Registration Information will be available shortly at this website or on the LER Facebook page
